Description

Job Summary:

The Residential Group Home Supervisor creates and embodies a caring and supportive environment and supports the residents being served by assisting with the activities of daily living, social skills, and participation in community events and recreational activities, while ensuring an overall safe, structured and nurturing environment. Residential Group Home Supervisors provide direct support to all residents living in the group homes and are assigned to a specific group home or a specific group of residents for each shift. The primary role assumed by the Residential Group Home Supervisor is to care for, protect, and serve the residents assigned to them.

Qualifications and Training Requirements:

Basic knowledge of serving individuals with developmental disabilities. High school diploma or GED. At least one year of experience in a related field. Must have reliable transportation, valid Oklahoma drivers license, auto insurance as required by the State of Oklahoma, must pass OSBI background check, and have no prior listing on the Oklahoma Community Registry. Must obtain required training in a timely manner.

Physical Requirements:

Physical requirements include frequent bending, standing, walking; continuous ability for speech communication and hearing in order to communicate with residents, employees and the public, vision for reading, recording and interpreting information, ability to stand for long hours at a time, and the ability to lift/carry a maximum of 25 pounds. Satisfactory completion of post-offer, pre-employment physical as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides support services to residents, including grocery shopping, financial oversight, transportation to appointments, assistance with medical needs.
  • Teach, assist and cook nutritional meals for our clients.
  • Must be observant of the health of each resident and report any health issues of concern immediately.
  • Take residents to a variety of activities, including shopping, sports, theater, art, music and dining functions.
  • Promote a healthy life style including diet and exercise.
  • Provide support and assistance to meet the residents spiritual needs.
  • Provide a natural atmosphere conducive to the needs of the adults served.
  • Ensure that the individuals of each home have opportunities to participate in community activities.
  • Provide the individuals with learning experiences based on individual abilities.
  • Help maintain contact with families and encourage their involvement in programming.
  • Assist with IP planning by keeping accurate medical and progress records, making assessments of individual training needs and providing training and direction to the residents of the home.
  • Know the medical needs of the residents and keep abreast of various medications used by each individual, assist individuals in taking medication, instruct the individuals in proper use and administration of each medication. Ensure that medical appointments are scheduled and the medical needs of each resident in the home are met.
  • Be knowledgeable of the dietary needs of each resident and ensure that they comply with special diets and dietary needs. Ensure that well-balanced meals are planned and prepared by the residents of the home and all current menus are posted along with menus for the following week. Make allowances for special diets and ensures that they are being followed.
  • Maintain general upkeep of the home and yard with residents input and notify and fill out a maintenance request for repair work.
  • Purchase groceries for the home according to the menu staying within budget and keeping a transmittal and submitting it weekly to the IPC.
  • Participate in training required by DDSD which includes First Aid, CPR MAT, Foundation, and ETL. Also attend in-service trainings to stay aware of updates and changes.
  • Must remain observant of potential abuse, whether verbal or physical, to the individual and report to the IPC immediately.
  • Protects privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to the residents, employees, facility information and records.
  • Maintains safe and secure working environment and practices safe working habits.
  • Complies with the Center of Family Love attendance policy.
  • Maintains neat appearance, good personal hygiene and appropriate attire.
  • Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Center of Family Loves values of teamwork, respect, integrity, compassion and kindness.
